Thank you for visiting our page to learn about the purpose behind our “It Takes Every Community” mural. We truly believe that it takes every community to make a difference!

About the Mural

What better way to visually communicate our mission than with a mural in the heart of our communities? We believe that showcasing health awareness and vital information through art can spark conversations and educate people on how they can make a difference by being more inclusive,  informed and involved. This inspired us to create a colorful, visual image that draws viewers in and encourages them to learn more about us and our mission.

About the Mural Artist

Melanie Posner, a fine artist from St. Pete, began oil painting in late 2014 and has been captivated ever since. Melanie creates art that evokes strong emotions, whether through confrontational images or expressions of love and happiness. Her personal experiences and emotions guide her artistic journey.Originally from Pennsylvania, she earned a BFA in Painting from The University of Tampa in 2016. Her work has been featured in exhibitions like Nude Nite, where she won “Best in Show,” and at the opening of Loud Gallery in Orlando.

About Ryan White Care Council

The Care Council comprises volunteers from diverse backgrounds who dedicate their time and expertise to serving individuals with HIV/AIDS. Our volunteers include people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), healthcare providers, community organizations, AIDS service organizations, social services, mental health and substance abuse providers, public health agencies, health planning agencies, community leaders, and representatives from Ryan White funding sources.

Diversity is Key

Different communities often face unique health challenges. By involving diverse groups, we can identify and address specific health disparities, ensuring that all populations receive appropriate care and resources. At the Care Council, diverse community engagement is vital for improved health outcomes because it ensures cultural relevance, addresses health disparities, and builds trust. It enhances access to care, brings innovative solutions, and leads to comprehensive data collection. Engaging diverse communities elicits diverse dialogue, supports prevention and early intervention, and results in more effective and equitable health initiatives.
